Woodblock in progress

Strange BedFellows
drawing
about 7" wide by 8" tall.

I firmly believe one arts ones world.

This is not one of the set of 12 I've begun,
but is of that world and time,
sort of off to the side,
in darker areas where one doesn't venture willingly.
Edges got cleared today.
The block itself, before printing is always so beautiful
that I've decided to photograph them.
Once printed, they will never look like this again.
 Printing is next.

Early Man

Early Man
This 18.5 x 14.25" print
is printed by hand onto 20.5" x 17" Kitakata paper.
It's a tight fit onto the paper, but it does fit well.
Not a fan of matting, because it many times reminds me of too tight underwear,
I would float this.
It is the first of 12 that I've got lined up to keep me out of trouble.

My prints on other things

I have beautiful giclees of these prints,
but some people want to see them on towels, shower curtains, pillows, coffee cups, etc.
I don't want to get involved with inventory,
so I'm experimenting with FineArtAmerica.
They've done good blank cards for me
and now I'm willing to see how they handle my images on other items.
Dodgeville does look good as a phone case!

Fall Art Tour of 2016

Busy year!
As soon as I returned from teaching
Whiteline Woodblock Printmaking at the Peninsula School of Art,
I began, with my trusty helpers, to render some studio order
in anticipation of those who will visit during this years
More photos to come.

For the first year ever,
I will have a few beautiful prints of the
original, official, full color,
portrait of the FurryBit Factory!
I am trying to get the ads in order and a few printed up by Friday.

 More sneak peaks coming...
I've got to get back to work here.

Early Man Hunting-beginning of the block

This is only about 1/12 of the block.
Not yet completely cut
and going slow because I seem to be drawing it as I go,
changing my mind, adding things, eliminating things,
not following "the plan"
which makes it rather more challenging than normal,
but OH, so much more interesting.
Prints will b available and dry by the Fall Art Tour.

Beginning a woodblock print

Under the watchful eye of 7 Pound Betty,
now occupying the position of studio Muse,
I begin the first official block of the Garden of Eden project.

Proof of Betty's NightClub

11" tall by about 10.5" wide.
Photos by cell phone.
Proof was hanging so not really square,
but I couldn't wait.
I needed to see what I cut.
I didn't do the best job of finishing the wood before I began,
so it's troublesome to print
and the wood warps.
I will never again not begin a properly prepared board.

I have 9 more sheets of paper to print,
and then I will begin planning out the next block.

the Betty Blocks.

January 11 black ice and donation

Above is the painting I'm donating to the Spring Green Area Artist Coalition Event
Below is my January 8th. 3:30PM encounter
with black ice hiding within a puddle
in a Madison parking lot as I was walking to night school.
