which has color copy enhanced by me, because I wanted it to feel like the original.

that accidentally became a book.
So far, there is only this one "book".

Finally proofing this one.

Testing out some papers.

A larger Kitakata from Hiromi is giving me the best print.

Paper is a little thinner than the Kitakata of the smaller size that I expected to be printing upon,

but the image kept growing 

and now I"m needing to find another paper 

that works for the kind of cutting I do.

Driftless Area Landscape paintings

I told them I would paint two for their Spring Green Area Artist Coalition fund raiser.

It's a lottery.

$30.00 gives you a certificate, 

which when picked, allows you to have your pick of ALL the 8"x8" canvases 

created by local area artists. 

I keep reminding myself that offering these is a good thing, for me.  

It does get the babies out and visible, 

since they are seen by no one on my walls, 

except during the Fall Art Tour. 

I don't have a gallery.

SO, this is a good thing.....

I do wish I would be able to make the frames for them....

which might make this giving them away easier. 

I do make good frames.

It's the only angle with which

the reflections of the wet paint 

weren't quite so bad.

When it's really dry and varnished,

I'll get it photographed properly.

(It's 14" high and 18" wide,

on linen, on board)

This 18.5 x 14.25" print

 is printed by hand onto 20.5" x 17" Kitakata paper. 

It's a tight fit onto the paper, but it does fit well. 

Not a fan of matting, because it many times reminds me of too tight underwear, 

I would float this. 

It is the first of 12 that I've got lined up to keep me out of trouble.

in Cross Plains, Wisconsin through September 10th.

The others are growing in numbers safe in my drawers.

Yes, the road construction has become unbelievable, but it's quite managable.

I'll try to update my Road Construction Survival Map 

so you can get there 

without fear of being headed to Canada, 

scooped up by machines, 

or lost forever in the Caverns of Hwy 23.

The others are beginning to grow in numbers in my drawers.

Every year I agree to paint an 8" canvas

to be donated to the Spring Green Area Arts Coalition's "creative canvases" fund raiser.
The one above is for them...
although its colors are way off here.
The uprooted tree came from the Tornado.
It's nice to see the Moon.

There used to be a pine forest here,

until the Tornado.

(So curious....the painting directly above, now done, was small enough to be scanned,

the rest are photographed...and nothing really looks right.

I've got to figure this out.)

Last year, after painting two 8"x8" canvases as my donation to SGAAC 

My hope was to keep painting,

but worries of income ruled out any kind of experiments with unknown artings.

Painting is a form of arting which has always been a battle for me,

more along the lines of war....

with weapons of hair tipped long sticks,

I fight thick colors on a canvas battlefield.

THIS year, however, I am GOING to work my way through ten 12"x12" canvases

and hopefully discover if in fact this years donation was just another lucky fluke, or maybe I'm onto something here.

Letterpress NOTEBOOKS!

I'm assembling the notebooks

inbetween my efforts to ready for the Fall Art Tour

which starts TOMORROW!.

The 3-4 weeks of nasty poison ivy set me WAY back.

BUT! I'm busy getting done what I wanted to get done,

and will be STILL getting things done, and demonstrating HOW 

all this weekend during the Fall Art Tour...

the notebooks, the linoleum block carving, the rocket rings,

the whiteline woodblock printmaking...

and then I discovered how to make those frames out of aluminum flashing,

and a little while ago I figured a great way to make card hangers of simple wire....

it doesn't stop

I can't help it

I art.
